2010 Reading: The Year in Review

Since 2006 I have published an annotated list of the books I've read each year. My reading goal for each year is to average a book a week (52 books read each year) and to average 1,000 pages read each month (12,000 pages in a year.) 2010 is the first year that I reached this goal!

Here are the stats from 2010:

Total books read: 53
Total pages read: 12,252

This includes:
8 novels
18 works of non-fiction
6 collections of short stories
2 volumes of poetry
18 books on religion
1 work of humor

This list includes 11 books published by McSweeney's Press.

Of the books I read,
28 were written by men
11 were written by women; and,
14 were co-written by men and women

My Top 5 Books from 2010 were:

1) Authors of the Impossible: The Paranormal and the Sacred - by Jeffrey Kripal (#53)
2) Absence of Mind: The Dispelling of Inwardness from the Modern Myth of Self - by Marilynne Robinson (#44)
3) True Enough: Learning to Live in a Post-Fact Society - by Farhad Manjoo (#43)
4) Citrus County - by John Brandon (#49)
5) I Don't Believe in Atheists - by Chris Hedges (#11)
